Steven Silvers is a recognized strategic communications expert with a 25-year track record in corporate affairs, media relations, issues and crisis management. He is a principal at GBSM, Inc., a highly regarded management consulting, communications and public affairs firm based in downtown Denver, Colorado.
Previously, Steve was founding president of ClarusPR, a leading Denver public relations firm specializing in new ventures, and he served as a vice president with Hill & Knowlton. He began his career at age 17 by enlisting in the U.S. Army, becoming one of the military's top journalists. As an NCO, Steve served as associate editor, reporter and columnist for the Pentagon's official Army News Service during the transformative years from a draft to today's all-volunteer force.
Steve later joined Texas Instruments and helped lead several internal communications initiatives to support its repositioning as a market-driven company. He began his agency work in Dallas at Ogilvy & Mather Public Relations, where he helped introduce a newly patented technology called "voice mail." He later directed the public relations groups of two Dallas-based integrated marketing communications firms.
Steve graduated from the Navy Photojournalism Program at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communication and is an accredited (APR) member of the Public Relations Society of America. A 1998 Leadership Denver graduate, Steve is an active member of the business and civic leadership community, including serving on the board of directors of the Metro Denver Chamber Leadership Foundation.
In 2005, Steve began publishing "Scatterbox: Field Notes on PR and Strategic Influence," which is ranked by AdWeek as others as one of the nation's top PR-related blogs.
